Industrial valve export packaging and preservation

Export packing has to preserve sealing surfaces, coatings, internals, actuators and identification through handling, storage and climate changes. Valve weight and size make generic cardboard packing inadequate for many shipments.

Set route and storage assumptions

State transport modes, journey duration, container type, climate, outdoor storage and required preservation period. Identify lifting and forklift constraints.

Sea freight can create salt exposure and condensation. Long storage requires periodic inspection and renewal instructions.

Protect the valve

Drain test water, dry internal spaces as required, protect machined surfaces and seal every opening with robust caps. Lock closures in the prescribed transport position.

Support the body rather than vulnerable stems, handwheels or actuators. Isolate coated surfaces from abrasive restraints.

Engineer the crate and moisture control

Design skids and crates for mass, centre of gravity, stacking and lifting. Use compliant timber treatment and marks for destination rules.

Apply barrier bags, desiccants or vapour protection where specified. Moisture control needs a defined volume and seal, not loose packets.

Keep every package traceable

Mark package number, destination, gross and net mass, dimensions, centre of gravity, lifting points and storage symbols. Include a protected packing list.

Photograph valve condition and completed packing before dispatch. Match serials and tags to the shipping documents.
