GOST 33259 vs EN 1092-1 flanges for industrial valves
GOST 33259 and EN 1092-1 both address circular flanges, yet a matching DN and PN does not guarantee direct connection. Replacement engineering must compare the exact flange execution, dimensions, facing, material and pressure-temperature basis.

Collect complete flange designations
Record standard, edition, DN, PN, flange type, facing execution, material and mating component. Abbreviated purchase descriptions remove information needed for dimensional review.
Request a valve drawing with outside diameter, bolt circle, bolt-hole dimensions, thickness, facing and bore. Compare this drawing with the actual mating flange or approved piping-class sheet.
Check pressure-temperature capability
PN is a designation rather than a universal allowable pressure at every temperature. Verify the material group and applicable pressure-temperature rules under the selected standard and project code.
Use design pressure and temperature, not normal values alone. Include static head, surge, start-up and system test cases where they govern the connection.
Compare facing and sealing system
Facing geometry and surface finish determine gasket selection and compression behaviour. Flat face, raised face and groove-based executions must be compared with the mating flange and project gasket standard.
Specify gasket material, dimensions, bolting grade and tightening method. Do not compensate for a facing mismatch with an unapproved gasket stack.
Verify bolt pattern and installation access
Check bolt count, diameter, hole size, bolt circle and wrench clearance. A pattern that appears similar can still prevent assembly or create poor load distribution.
For large valves, review stud removal, support, lifting and access. Site photographs and field dimensions are especially important when records are old or the line has been modified.
Review bore and adjacent equipment
Flange bore and valve port may differ between systems or product designs. Internal steps can affect pressure drop, pigging and erosion. Butterfly-valve disc clearance requires a section check against adjacent pipe and gasket.
Any adapter, spacer or replacement spool needs its own rating, material, welding and inspection basis. Treat it as an engineered piping component.
Approve compatibility through a controlled drawing
Summarise dimensions, ratings, materials, facing, gasket, bolting and bore in a comparison sheet. Obtain responsible engineering approval before placing the order.
Use the approved connection drawing in receiving inspection. This provides a measurable acceptance basis and prevents installation decisions from being made at the shutdown site.
